Why, look! It's a Sherlock drabble!


Title - Sedated (1/1)
Author - earlgreytea68
Rating - Teen
Characters - Sherlock, John
Spoilers - "A Scandal in Belgravia"
Disclaimer - I don't own them and I don't make money off of them, but I don't like to dwell on that, so let's move on.
Summary - "Why would I need you?" "No reason at all."
Author's Notes - A drabble! There may even be a ficlet later today!

Why would I need you? Sherlock had mumbled into his pillow.

No reason at all. That’s what John had replied. Which wasn’t at all true. There were a million reasons why Sherlock might need him.

Or vice versa. Which might have been why John was standing in Sherlock’s bedroom, watching him breathe, assuring himself that the sedative was wearing off and Sherlock was going to be fine.

When he got into the bed and laid his head over Sherlock’s chest, it was just to confirm that the heart in there was still beating.

It was Sherlock who drew him closer.

Squee! That is exactly what I wanted to happen -- well, not that scenario in particular (but it is very sweet and made me squee) -- lots of shippy fic, because the ep is VERY shippy.

I watched it with lorelaisquared and we we squeed the place down, saying almost at the same time how much potential the Moff had just given writers.

I'm not sure I can write Sherlock -- the arrogance and the snark just aren't me (although, I know, I should accept the challenge...)

Potential is a good way to think about it. I'd rather think of it as potential than pandering to fandom without intention, which is what my friend and I first thought.

I find Sherlock challenging to write, too. It's why I've never done it before, and why even these efforts I've made are very brief.

There are going to be six episodes total. The first three aired on PBS about a year ago and are now out on DVD. The second set of three will air on PBS in May. Hope that helps!

Yeah I think that's pretty accurate. Sherlock must completely baffle him like 90% of the time. And yet he probably knows/understands him better than anyone else does (or ever will)

Yes it's true. And they really balance each other out. Sherlock pushes John to think more critically and to look outside the box, while also giving him that sense of adventure that he craves and John bring Sherlock down to earth and makes sure he occasionally does things like eat or call him on his poor social skills.
